The Department of Politics and Public Administration in the Faculty of Politics, Law, Economics, subject to the approval of the Ministry of Science, Research and The Arts Baden Württemberg and the University Council, seeks to fill this position by April 1st, 2023 (Reference No. 2022/276.).

Frist: 05.12.2022

The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence in Germany. Since 2007 it has been successful in the German Excellence Initiative and its follow-up program, the Excellence Strategy.

The lectureship contributes to the curricular development of the interdisciplinary Master’s program in Social and Economic Data Science (SEDS) and the methods track of other programs at the department. Teaching responsibilities comprise 12 semester hours, including an introductory class in statistics, as well as advanced seminars on statistical and computational methods and their applications in the social and behavioral sciences. A specialty in methods to study social interactions, social influence, social networks, and their dynamics would be particularly welcome.

The successful candidate has a proven record of excellence in teaching. We place great emphasis on gender and diversity competence in teaching and research. The position requires a doctoral degree in statistics, computer science, or one of the behavioral and social sciences, with an evident inclination to the other disciplines. Applicants should have relevant and internationally visible publications beyond their PhD project. Although the focus of the position is on teaching, we welcome a continued independent research agenda.
