IT University of Copenhagen - Assistant/Associate Professorship in digital processes and information systems

The Business IT Department at the IT University of Copenhagen invites qualified applications for 1-2 Assistant or Associate Professor positions in the area of digital processes and information systems.

The applicants should contribute to the IT University’s vision of creating and sharing knowledge that is profound and leads to ground-breaking information technology and services for the benefit of humanity, and more specifically contribute to the Business IT Department's research and education, both foundational and with impact on industry and society (see https://en.itu.dk/research/departments/business-it-department).

The proposed starting date is August 2020. An earlier or later start date may be negotiated.

Job description
The new Assistant or Associate Professors are expected to do research and teach in one or more of the following areas:

  • Digital processes and digital collaboration; Preference is given to applicants with a focus on Business Process Management, Process Innovation, or Computer-Supported Collaborative Work
  • Strategic Information Systems: Preference is given to applicants with a focus on Inter-organizational Systems, Digital Innovation, Digital transformation, Information Systems Governance, Enterprise Systems, Information Management, or Enterprise Architecture
  • The future of work in relation to emergent technologies: such as Digital Platforms, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Software Robots, Robotic Process Automation, Blockchain Technologies and (big) Data Analytics and management.

The ideal candidate should document:

  • Publications of research at a high international level in well-respected peer reviewed venues
  • Competences in developing and conducting teaching that is well received by students
  • A record of contributing to the goals of the institutions in which he/she has worked, for example participation in committees, etc.

In addition, candidates for the position as associate professorship should be able to:

  • Attract external research funding
  • Supervise PhD students
  • Read/speak a Scandinavian language (or have the willingness to learn Danish)

The work environment
The Business IT department is committed to high quality, business-relevant educational programmes that result in employment for our competent and independent graduates, and delivers relevant research-based knowledge to IT managers in the public and private sectors through our professional part-time programme.

The two research groups – TiP (Technologies in Practice and TIME (Technology, Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship) - deliver world-class research within the intersection between IT, business and social science, including innovation and process models, information infrastructure, digital democracy, digital change management, public digitization, and climate impacts of technology.

The Department of Business IT offers an undergraduate program in Global Business Informatics and a Master’s program in Digital Innovation and Management. The department’s two labs, Business Innovation Lab (BuILD) and ETHOS Lab, offer services to organisations and the industry. The department has approximately 35 academic faculty and 20 PhD scholars.

General information
The IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) is a teaching and research-based tertiary institution concerned with information technology (IT) and the opportunities it offers. The IT University has more than 160 full-time academics. Research and teaching in information technology span all academic activities which involve computers including computer science, information and media sciences, humanities and social sciences, business impact and the commercialisation of IT.

The assistant professorship is a temporary position for up to 3 years with the possibility of extension. The position requires academic qualifications at PhD level.

Salary
Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Danish
Confederation of Professional Associations (AC).

  • Documentation of pedagogical experience and teaching record within one or more of the teaching areas listed for the position.

For the position as associate professor: documentation of both a) received observation and feedback on teaching, b) pedagogical training courses as a teacher, c) a formal written assessment of teaching competence and d) a teaching record within one or more of the teaching areas listed for the position

The applicant will be assessed according to the Appointment Order from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of 13 March 2012.

The IT University may use shortlisting in connection to the recruitment process. In case of shortlisting, the chair of the hiring committee selects applicants for assessment in consultation with the hiring committee after the application deadline. All applicants are notified whether their application has been passed for assessment. The shortlisting of candidates for assessment is based on the criteria in the job posting.
