The Digital Innovation and the Public Sector (DIPS) group at the Department of Information Systems is seeking to fill the position of an Postdoctoral Research Associate in Digital Innovation (Akademische Rätin/Akademischer Rat auf Zeit) at the earliest possible date.

We are offering a three-year, fixed-term position (100%) with the option to extend by an additional three years. The prospective candidate is required to teach four hours per week during the semester (4 SWS).

The group is closely affiliated with the REACH start-up center of the university and the European Research Center for Information Systems (ERCIS), a global research network of Information System scholars and practitioners.

Joining this vivid ecosystem at the interface of the digital transformation and innovation processes, you will work with a motivated, collegial, and ambitious team. You will be involved in the co-supervision of Ph.D. students and receive ample time to pursue your own research projects and interests. You will also be able to expand your teaching portfolio at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Your tasks:

  • Conduct outstanding research on digital innovation phenomena, such as the emergence of platform ecosystems, digital health, smart cities, or the digital disruption of the public sector. The DIPS group puts quality over quantity, seeking to publish in high-quality outlets such as the FT50 list of journals for management research.
  • Co-supervise and support one or multiple Ph.D. students in their trajectories and research projects.
  • For the first two years, tasks will involve the coordination of the project “Digital Innovation and Sustainable Development” funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-​Westphalia, during open educational resources will be developed and piloted.
  • Teach courses with a total of four hours of instruction per week (4 SWS). During the first two years, teaching will be covered by activities within the aforementioned project.
  • Explore funding opportunities and acquire competitive third-party funding that aligns with your and the group’s research and teaching objectives.

Our expectations:

  • Ph.D. degree in management, economics, or information systems related to digital innovation
  • Pipeline of high-quality paper manuscripts and/or research projects
  • History of successful teamwork as, for instance, reflected in multi-author research papers or projects
  • Excellent command of English in written and spoken form
  • Teaching experience at a university level
  • Ideally, previous experience related to team leadership, funding acquisition, and project management
