Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft jointly invite applications for the position of Full Professor of »IT Service Management, Development and Operations« in combination with Director Information and Communication Management at Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft to begin in summer semester 2021.

The position is a tenured W3 position. Scientific environment: The professorship belongs to the TUM Department of Informatics. It is associated with the position of “Director Information and Communication Management” at the Fraunhofer headquarters, as head of the main department “3C Information and Communication Management” in the board division “Finance and Digitization”. The administration of Fraunhofer is directly linked to the research and teaching context of the technical university and thus offers a real test environment. Responsibilities: The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the supervision and promotion of young scientists. We are looking for an expert in the research field of IT Service Management, Development and Operations with a focus on Integration of Software Development (Dev) and IT Operations (Ops) as well as Performance and Scalability of IT Services. Teaching responsibilities include courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs. The professorship is combined with the management of the department “Information and Communication Management” in the central office of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. It comprises five departments with approximately 250 employees at the locations Munich, Stuttgart, Sankt Augustin and Darmstadt. The main department provides IT services on methods, knowledge, infrastructure, collaboration and security for Fraunhofer Institutes and the Fraunhofer headquarters. The task includes committee activities of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft as well as the representation of the executive board for finances and digitization in the external area.

Qualifications:

A university degree, an above-average doctorate or a comparable special qualification for scientific work as well as special pedagogical aptitude are required. You have a high scientific reputation, several years of management experience in science management and the ability to initiate and manage cooperative research projects and to raise third-party funds (DFG, EU, AiF). Furthermore, we expect full commitment to international, interdisciplinary research and experience in designing the research IT infrastructure of the future.
