In a knowledge-based, digital, and global economy, collaboration is a prerequisite for achieving long-term success and competitiveness. Supported by the sponsor Tempowerk (previously known as hit-Technopark), the School of Management Science and Technology is looking for candidates who conduct research and teaching in the areas of organizational design and collaboration engineering to inform technical, business, and societal innovation. The focus of the professorship is on the explanation and design of structures, systems, and processes to promote collaboration across disciplinary and organizational boundaries. This position requires profound research experience in the management of collaboration. Successful applicants are also expected to engage in the implementation of research findings to support cross-disciplinary and cross-organizational cooperation.

TUHH is looking for an ambitious and experienced scholar with a research record in at least two of the following fields: Inter-and intraorganizational cooperation for competitiveness and innovation Design of organizational structures, systems, technologies, and processes to facilitate collaboration Management of open and collaborative organizational systems and networks (e.g. technology clusters, innovation platforms) Methods for designing new business models, products, services, and technologies. The applicant preferably has a background in business administration or mechanical engineering with a business research orientation. Candidates from the field of business informatics or design are also invited to apply. Candidates will ideally be working at the intersection of business administration and engineering/design.

The new professor will play a central role in the foundation and set-up of the “TUHH Design Lab” which is conceived as a competence center for collaborative development of business models, products, services, and technologies. This unit should also be dedicated to supporting structures and processes, facilitating collaboration both within TUHH and between TUHH and external bodies. This position is due to commence in the 2021/2022winter term. The deadline for applications is January 28, 2021. The courses are in English and German; for non-German speakers a willingness to learn German is expected.
