The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of
Professor of »Machine Learning in Business Analytics«
to begin in winter semester 2020/21, or earlier/later by mutual agreement. While we are particularly looking to hire young, international talents as tenure track assistant professors (W2 fixed term position with tenure track to a tenured W3 position), we will also consider exceptional applications for a tenured W3 position as associate or full professor. The professorship is endowed by the Dieter Schwarz Foundation and will be located in Munich.

Scientific environment
The professorship belongs to the TUM School of Management. The school is currently listed as one of the strongest European business schools for research. We aim to create real impact through our research contributing to solving humanity’s greatest challenges. Researchers of the business school publish in the top journals of their fields. They have access to extensive computing resources, an experimental lab, as well as to major databases for research. TUM School of Management has close ties to the engineering and natural science schools of the Technical University of Munich as well as to industry.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of machine learning in business analytics with applications in energy, finance, marketing, or operations. The professor (open rank) will contribute to our education on the bachelor, master, and/or PhD level.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with research and teaching experience at the highest international standards, according to the relevant career level. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. We further expect substantial research experience outside of Germany, the ability to initiate and to lead cooperative research projects as well as to attract funding.
